May You Live In Peace.

I want to post and finally have a few minutes to do so but I just don’t know what to say or to write about. Talk about a bummer.

I’ve recently started doing something brand new in my life. Actually, this kick-started on Saturday and began yesterday but now isn’t the time for me to discuss it. I’ll wait it out a bit to see if all engines are running smoothly.

Oh, we’re going back to the beautiful eastern shoreline of Minnesota. We haven’t decided when yet but an opportunity arose for us to jump on it. I’m thinking late July or sometime in August.

I’ve made a couple personal goals for the summer and so far they are going great. The last two summers haven’t been filled with much fun. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve gone out and about but in comparison to summers past; I didn’t get to see the lake or enjoy the summer air much at all. This summer is proving to make up for it. Both sadly and happily, this summer we’ve already done more and have more planned then the last couple so that’s a thrill. Every weekend since mid-May has been something to look forward to. The biggest downfall of a fun weekend? The housework gets put aside. Looks like I’ll have to make more of an effort during the week.

A few more summertime goals include reading, grilling, smiling more and get some of that good ol’ vitamin C. Thankfully this year we have a balcony so all four checks are easily obtainable.

Guess I had something to chit chat about after all. Until next time: Read a book. It’ll do you no harm.

The Last 7 Days.

Switching gears and onto a more uplifting note, I’m continuing to be a do-er in twenty-fourteen. Writing the last post in an honest form and actually publishing it makes me feel good. I’ve personally kept diaries about my weight struggles for years but I’ve never displayed it for anyone to see. This is the direction that I was hoping to face for my blog. Truth. I’m done candy coating my life and putting a film over it. Although I might not have many people that care to be invested to this blog, it’s about me. No one else.

I got quite a bit accomplished this past week and weekend. It’s not like I went bungie jumping or anything but I finished editing my brothers senior pictures and brought them home for him to see yesterday. I visited my mom and we visited Channing’s parents too. I closed a big project at work which obviously I had to do regardless but I really felt accomplished after successfully doing so. I finished yet another scarf on Friday. I finally took down the rest of the Christmas decor and tree, rearranged the living room about five times, and went on a date with the love of my life.

It’s been a good day and another great week to add to twenty-fourteen. Here’s to many more! Stay positive guys and gals. Find something good to be happy about even if it seems miniscule. Fake a smile if you need to but always remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel as long as you’re willing to reach for it.

A Hook And Yarn.

Even though this was made pre-2014, I still wanted to share since I made some improvements on it tonight. (My “Do-Something” for the day!) I actually finished this in four hours on Sunday night so it wasn’t too long ago. One of my cousins wore one to our family Christmas last weekend and it looked super fun and very cute. This is what actually got my wheels turning on the entire new found hobbies for the new year thing-a-ma-jig. Thanks, Anna!
This was my first shot at crochet since high school. Add another big thanks to the World Wide Web, I was able to quickly re-teach myself the slip knot. I attempted using two different spools of yarn for a thicker look. The only fault in that was that I would have probably benefited by buying a larger hook.

I initially made this as an infinity scarf and wore it to work on Monday. I got quite a few compliments on it but found throughout the day that I had gotten some pieces twisted up which made it kind of a nuisance. So tonight, I undid the connecting area in the back and made it into a thicker scarf rather than the infinity style. I actually prefer this one better and think it turned out pretty sweet considering my first jab at it in seven years!

Scarf number two is in the works! More posts to come.
